we are in need.
We are three trans women trying to live in Bloomington; maybe you know us. We’ve been fortunate enough to obtain hormones and manage the financial burden so far, but our situations are always eroding. In the interests of struggling against isolation and individualistic notions of “self-sufficiency”, we seek the material support of our friends so that we might continuing to pursue fleeting moments of joy within our illegible bodies: moments that coalesce to make survival and struggle possible.
With $1500, the three of us can pay for hormones for one year. It’s difficult to see that dollar amount and know that it’s the only hindrance to feeling okay in our bodies. Yet our position is not unique in this circle of friendship; our bodies fail us, we go to jail, etc., and financial support is desperately needed. We find it difficult to request help when so many friends are forced to exist in more repressive situations than us, but we ask anyway, trusting in your agency.
Yours in misery,
